RED

I didn't buy the new Taylor Swift album, but I do think she is adorable, and I love her style at the moment.
I do get "We are never ever ever ever ever getting back together" stuck in my head a lot.
Anyways, here's my red shirt from yesterday....I think I might download that song now.....

Spot the comeback

On Friday I made my debut back at work since having baby Ted.
As an owner of a coffee shop/art gallery I can pretty much wear whatever I fancy as long as I don't care if it gets coffee stains on it.
It was hard to be away from my baby (I thought about him constantly), but it was nice to see everyone and drink awesome coffee!
I got a little bit of work done too.

This is what I wore

Blouse- GAP
Jeans- GAP
Shoes- Old Navy
Necklace- JCrew
Coffee- Hazelnut latte

Sunglasses- Target

I REALLY like polka dots.

Channeling Kendi

It seems almost comical that during my pregnancy my style icon has been the svelte Kendi Skeen of "KendiEveryday" and not someone, well, rounder.
I thought I'd be one of those ladies channeling Stevie Knicks; wearing caftans, chiffon and boho skirts; but this has not been the case for the past 9 months.
I think I've been so drawn to Kendi because I like the simplicity of her style. She chooses well fitting garments and adds thoughtful accessories to her ensembles to create outfits that are edited perfectly.

Examples you say? Here you go:

7.31.12c
Simple blouse, simple hair, clean make up and unconventional trousers. Balanced with chunky jewellery so no piece is the "star". The color palette is blue, white and green accented with a delicate warm gold.
A  red lip would make it look like she tried too hard, a colored bag would throw off the balance, take away the necklace and it would look like expensive pajamas. The girl got it right.

11.21.11c
Tough leather jacket with sweet pretty dress, unfussy accessories in the same hues and a perfect blow out. This outfit is perfection, it makes me itch for Autumn.
8.14.12b
Her oversize necklace could take away from the leopard print skirt, but because it's such a delicate color and is echoed in the skirt they do not compete for attention. This picture taught me how to wear the huge intimidating necklaces that I have seen in magazines and been afraid that I couldn't wear them myself.

Here are a few pictures of me biting Kendis style from the past week

I found this JCrew inspired necklace at "Rag-O-Rama" It's chartreuse and slime green and I love it. I paired it with my "put a bird on it" top from Forever 21 for balance.

Jeans- Destination Maternity
Top- Forever 21+
Necklace- Rag-O-Rama
Shoes- Ebay (Of course if I was wearing a 100% Kendi outfit these would be pretty green heels)

Thanks for the inspiration Kendi!

Rainy night in Georgia

Sometimes you're not looking for anything in particular and you end up falling in love with an article of clothing. That happened to me yesterday in Macys when I found this beautiful polka dot top.
It fits me like it was made for me, and the pretty layers of chiffon feel romantic and pretty.
It's really a summer top, but I paired it with my suit jacket for this rainy night in Georgia. (I rolled up the sleeves so you can see the leopard print lining because it's so fun, and this needed a little humor so I wouldn't look too much like a "grown up".

Shoes- I can't remember, but you can't see them anyway!

Casual Friday.

Last night I was summoned to the bar because a friend needed to discuss her boy woes over a cold one.
I got ready in 10 minutes. I may have wanted to go in my pj's but I think for the time constraints I did pretty well.
I get confused when people tell me that they don't have time to get dressed, after all, doesn't it take the same amount of time to put on jeans as it does sweat pants and pretty flats as it does sneakers?
Granted this is not the best I have looked, but it's better than sweats and a hoodie!

Jeans- Old Navy

Step into my office...

I'm a painter. I always have been. When I was a child I thought everyone ran home to break out their watercolors and paper, not sit and watch back to back episodes of Grange Hill.
So, I've already welcomed you into my closet, now I'd like to invite you into my favorite space, my office.

Top- (it was a dress that I cut up) Old Navy
Jeans- New Look
Flip flops- Target
Hat- the Icing
Earrings- Rag-o-rama

My necklace was a present from my hubby for my birthday, he had it made specially for me! Yippee :)
Look at Marvin upstaging me and showing me how to pose! Meow! He should strut his stuff on a catwalk...yeah, that was a bad joke. Sorry.

Forever 21?

I am sooo in love with my new Forever 21 feather wrap and skinny jeans (13.50? Yes please!).
I was so skeptical buying anything from there because I was scared that the clothes would be too small; but they're so lovely and the prices were so reasonable.

My favorite shopping website is without a doubt ASOS.com, but all the items I covet are too expensive for me to buy full price. It is lovely to have more thrifty options for trying out trends.

I may be a Forever 21 fan forever.
Now I just have to not check the website that often because they seem to add something new every day.

Are you a fan?

P.s. I love how I look like I'm giving myself the stank eye! Haha!

Biker Chic?

Last night me and my best friend Leah went to one of our favorite pubs Charlie G's. As she snapped some photos of me to put on here, a Policeman saw us and thought that the photos would be better if we posed on his motorcycle, so we did! It was pretty cool, I'm not going to lie.
