Rockabilly cheapskate

Those websites that have rockabilly clothing for plus size bodies are soooo expensive.
With those lovely clothes in mind I stopped dead in my tracks when I found some tattoo inspired iron on patches not too long ago. I attached them to a cardigan that has been in my wardrobe for a long long time and made something that would probably cost me $100 for less than $15.
I love the results!

Hey Now, Crazy Pants

For some reason I have embraced crazy looking pants. I blame this image.
Anyway, I'm kind of in love with these zany trousers, they're super comfy and made me smile whenever I looked down.
They're a bit of a fashion risk, but you only live once, right?

These were shot in Piedmont Park on a gloriously unseasonably sunny day

Feel free to send me this card because there are more crazy pants to come!

Color Block

I scored this maxi dress in a 70% off Target sale figuring I'd keep it and wear it next spring....I couldn't wait, so I paired it with my favorite cardigan and my trusty boots.
If Atlanta clings to summer weather, then I can cling to my summer wardrobe.

Look how beautiful my city is.

Listen to the Darkside

Last night me and my buddy Logan went to see Charlie Mars.

I was a little bummed because we were told he was going on at 8pm, and didn't go on until 10.30pm. I ended up leaving at 11.15pm because I was worried that I'd get in an accident if I let my already sleep deprived self drive home.
Those 45 minutes were stellar though.
After seeing him play by himself 3 times, it was a treat to see him with a band behind him.
I'm sad I missed my favorite songs, but Charlie actually told me to go.
I thought "Should I stay for one more song?" and he started playing 'No Place Like Home", hard to argue with that.

35 wEEKs!

So, Atlanta is having a record breaking hot summer, wouldn't you know it?!
My English blood is boiling underneath my skin thanks to my built in heating pad that kicks me intermittently throughout the day, and develops hiccups around 6pm each day.
It's been a little rough getting ready recently, mainly because my feet and legs have swollen, so my shoes hurt and wearing a skirt leads to excessive chub rub, you feel me?

This is what I wore to get lunch with my buddy David yesterday as the temperature hit close to 100 degrees.

Shirt- Macys
Skirt- Forever 21+ bodycon skirt
Belt- ASOS.com
Sparkly Flats- Bakers

Yup, there's definitely something other than lunch in there!

Earrings- Francescas
Nail Polish- Butter London in "Bossy Boots"- Spring 2012 Ltd Edition

I have to say, that I haven't bought much "maternity" clothing, other than some bras, a pair of shorts and a pair of jeans because I've just been wearing anything that is floaty or stretchy.  I also had a couple of maternity tops before I was pregnant because they had a little more room in the belly area, and lets face it, even though you only need maternity clothes for a few months even they are cuter than most plus size threads. Grumble grumble.
It's so strange as a fat girl to embrace a belly, we've grown up learning "tips and tricks" to disguise it, so it feels a little liberating to not suck in, or wonder if I look extra fat in something.
I may have become one of those serene mothers to be...
...until I stand up and my feet look like this...

My feet are so very swollen  that even these flats hurt after an hour :(

I don't know how I feel about this...

I have lusted after this Anthropology necklace for so long that I have a folder in my photos section of the computer with pictures of different people wearing it. Sad, I know, but it was just a little too expensive full price and I missed out when it went on sale.

Anthropologie Necklace 2
So last week, when I was perusing the shelves of Atlantas "Rag-O-Rama" and I saw it, in my favorite color no less,  my heart skipped a beat.

It feels just how I remember; heavy at the base with the yummiest, softest fabric to tie it around the neck, it is just  beautifully made; but being from a second hand shop I'm not 100% sure that it is the "real" Anthropologie necklace.
Especially because I keep seeing this

all over Pinterest.
I love to make things, and I love the satisfaction of getting a great deal, but I'm not sure if I like the idea of taking something so literally. I'd like to think that when I am inspired by something that I do not copy the original work exactly.
I suppose on the same note you could say that me buying it second hand is just as bad as it means that I made no contribution to the designer either.
These are just thoughts, I'm not sure what my stance is, all I know is I love my necklace.

Everyday Art

I've never jumped on the nail art bandwagon before because I've never had nails before. One of the lovely benefits of taking a prenatal vitamin every day is that my nails and hair have grown long and strong, so I guess that makes up for nausea and constipation and fatigue....right? TMI? Probably. Sorry. Here's my adventures in nail painting to make up for my faux pas.

Polka dot shirt from The Gap, Necklace from Givenchy, Nail Polish from Forever 21

Sally Hansen "Concrete" and "White On" - I used a toothpick to draw on the patterns

Sally Hansen "Mint Sorbet" and Butter London's "Teddy Girl" (My favorite ever...you'll know why soon enough)

Sally Hansen in "Concrete" (Holding my 20 week baby bump)

Sally Hansen "Mint Sorbet" the exact same color as my birthday earrings.

I love that Sally Hansens Xtreme wear nail polish is $3, it makes such a big difference to an outfit. Hopefully I will have kicked my nail biting habit for life!

A little more round than usual.

I'm 32 weeks pregnant on Tuesday and I have the bump to prove it!
The summer is hot, so finding comfortable things to wear has been a challenge.
I do love this outfit though. I got a pair of stretchy maternity jeans from "Destination Maternity" that are very comfortable and were very affordable.
This shirt is from Macys "American Rag" line, and is such a lovely rust color.

My necklace is from Forever 21 and cost me $6.80! Up close it looks like it could be from a foreign land as it's so intricate. The only way you can tell I scored it on the cheap is the lovely green ring around my neck after I take it off...I've got to try that nail polish trick. Until then- Hair down it is.

Sleeping Late

Last week one of my business partners was on vacation which meant my sleep schedule was all over the place as we had to cover different shifts than we were used to.
Every morning I am beeped awake by my alarm at 5.25am. It's still dark outside, there are few cars on the road and I allow myself 20 minutes to get ready before leaving the house. This means planning my outfits the night before and rocking the "bed head" look more often than not. But last week I got a couple of opportunities to sleep a little later and take my time to get ready. It felt nice.

Dress- Target ($8!!!!), Cardigan- Ross, Earrings- Francescas, Nail Polish- Mac "Shirelle" with a Sally Hansen heart design sticker on my ring finger.

Same Shirt, Different Day.

What I wore for last nights Karaoke filled evening.
I sang Adele's "Turning Tables".

Cardigan- Ross
Top- Macys American Rag
Skirt- Macys Se7en
Shoes- Seychelles
Earrings- The Icing

I think all of my favorite shirts have some sort of detail in the back. It's free air conditioning.
My mint green nails matched my shirt by accident.

I'm going to wear this often, it was one of those outfits that just felt like "me".

My peacock earrings and side braid gave this a boho feel, and made things feel easier and casual.

Star Bright!

When Forever 21 had their Black Friday sale these skirts were $6! So I bought one in pretty much every color. Red, black, blue, purple and this neon yellow. They're so comfy that all I really have been wearing is a variation of this outfit for weeks.  I'll have to make more of an effort this week to switch things up :)
(The black smudge next to my feet is my cat Murdock)

Cardigan- Forever 21+
Tank- Old Navy
Skirt- Forever 21+
Tights- Hue
Boots- Payless

I thought this cardigan was super long when I bought it. I keep forgetting that models are half a foot taller than me usually. But I actually like how it hugs my bum. It's so snuggly.

Southern Uncomfortable

Halloween is so fun, I love an excuse to wear a sparkly fedora, have gunfights in bars and wear an inappropriate length skirt!

Jacket- Macys
 Skirt- Gap
Lace shirt- Forever 21
Pocket watch- Gift from my sister
Fedora- Halloween store
Tights- ASOS (ones with seams down the back)

Mike, the karaoke DJ scared the shit out of me with this wolf mask. It even moved when he talked. Creeeepy!

My friend Mark was visiting from England. We did an excellent rendition of Warren G and Nate Dog's "Regulate".
We also have to make sure that there's a photo of us throwing up the "A-Town" sign before we go to bed.
Anyone wanna marry this guy real quick so we can hang out all the time. There are so many more 90's rap choons we need to do at SoCo.

Hope y'all had a happy Halloween!
